How did we get here so fast? It feels like a minute ago that Jaye and I were sitting at the dining-room table plotting out our goals for this year.
And now this year has just gone ‘whoosh’ and it’s over!
You know you’re getting older when you start going on about how time is flying by. You don’t hear kids and teenagers saying stuff like that. And it’s not surprising at all.
When I was a kid/teen I felt like I was stuck in time, like it moved so interminably slowly it seemed I would never get to where I wanted to be – which was all grown up, in charge of my own life and destiny. I couldn’t wait to grow up and it seemed to take forever.
And then after age 18 it just started to fly. Honestly my 18th birthday feels like it was just the other day (and I’m 40 now, so clearly it wasn’t quite as recent as it feels!).
Oh well. The end of the year is a great time to reflect on the year that has gone by and make some plans for the one ahead.
Do you set new years resolutions? I find ‘resolutions’ to be a bit open-ended so I set very specific goals. I have to admit that out of the goals I set this time last year, only a few were achieved. Some turned out to be not too realistic – which is totally okay – and others turned out to not really be things I truly wanted. But a few were indeed achieved, and that makes me super happy.
This year had plenty of good and bad, the wonderful contrasts of life. But I am looking forward to 2017 like you would not believe. We have some wonderful things planned. Bring it on!
