Hey there! I wasn’t sure if I was going to do these kinds of ‘best of’ round up posts. Which is why this is precisely my second one. So a few months got skipped entirely.
Because here’s the thing, I don’t want to bore myself or anyone else or go off on any tangents, BUT I realized that round-up posts ARE super helpful because you may have missed a recipe, or need a reminder about something fabulous that was posted.
And it also gives me an opportunity to mention little details that just don’t make sense to talk about in a recipe post. Like what’s coming next, how many great videos we posted this month (3!!!) and other good stuff.
So here goes!
Here’s what we did in March!
1. Vegan Chocolate Peanut Butter Oreo Pie // 2. Vegan White Sauce (Bechamel) // 3. Top Deck No Bake Brownies // 4. Creamy Vegan Cheese Sauce // 5. Vegan Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream // 6. Linguine with Garlic Chili Peanut Sauce // 7. Easy No Fail Wholewheat Bread // 8. The Easiest Vegan Lasagna // 9. Sticky Vegan Malva Pudding.
Did you try any out yet? Any stand-out favorites? My absolute favorites were the Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, the Linguine with Garlic Chili Peanut Sauce and the Lasagna!
New Recipe Videos!
Early this year I announced our plan to do a cooking show. Well…after much thought and deliberation, I realized that I DON’T have a gourmet kitchen for any gorgeous backgrounds (if you follow me on pinterest, you’ll see I have a board called ‘Gourmet Kitchens’ – well, a girl can dream….), so trying to do a proper ‘cooking show’ just wasn’t going to work in our tiny kitchen! So instead, we went with the simple ‘how to’ version of the recipe, where you just see my hands making the recipe. It keeps things all about the food, which is how we like it, and doesn’t require gourmet kitchens or hair and make-up. Good thing too, cos you wouldn’t believe how scruffy I am most days! #notcameraready
So far we have released 3 recipe videos! Check them out:
Stay posted for lots more recipe videos coming your way!
Coming up in April!
A whole lot of extreme deliciousness coming your way in April! See below for a little taster.
What We’re Reading
Jaye’s been reading Money: Master The Game by Tony Robbins, which is REALLY interesting. And really shows that creating financial stability/freedom doesn’t require earning massive amounts of money, but just making a plan to start saving and then actually following through on it and saving. Some of the biggest earners in the world have found themselves bankrupt. So how much you earn isn’t nearly as much the issue, as whether or not you prioritize saving. Super interesting book. I pretty much love anything Tony Robbins does so I look forward to getting stuck into this one myself.
And then, I read some major goodies in March, primarily related to the failure of the dieting industry and why it’s time to focus on health and self care rather than on the scale.
Secrets from the Eating Lab: The Science of Weight Loss, The Myth of Willpower and Why You Should Never Diet Again by Traci Mann. Oh my word – what an INCREDIBLE book! I mean if the title doesn’t sell you on this, then I don’t know what will!
Body Respect: What Conventional Health Books Get Wrong, Leave Out, and Just Plain Fail to Understand about Weight by Dr Linda Bacon and Dr Lucy Aphramor. This is another goodie, showing scientifically how futile it is to try to follow the mainstream advice about weight loss and how this leads to worsening health outcomes, whereas when the opposite occurs, when people focus on health and self care (which may not result in any weight loss at all), health outcomes dramatically improve.
And then you just got to have some fiction on the go with the non-fiction, and Stephen King’s Finders Keepers is it!
