Hello! Hope you’ve had a fab August and are looking forward to fall or spring, depending on where you are.
We spent the entire month of August in South Africa on holiday and it was awesome! We spent the bulk of the trip along the Garden Route, which is a spectacularly beautiful part of South Africa.
But actually, we were just reminded of how beautiful our home country really is. If you haven’t visited South Africa yet – you should! It’s one of the top return destinations in the world, because if you’ve come here once, then you will definitely want to return. It’s just that beautiful.
This was the view from our airbnb one fine winters day. This is Knysna. We’re looking over the Knysna lagoon and the Heads.
And this is the gorgeous Plettenberg Bay.
We ate amazing vegan food, reconnected with close family members and had a chance for some serious R&R as well. Which we needed!
It was amazing but now it’s back home and to normal life again! I can’t say I’m too sad about it since normal life is pretty awesome and I get to reunite with our kitties! They had a cat sitter while we were away so they didn’t have to go anywhere which is just how they like it!
These are a couple of the pics sent to us by the catsitter. 🙂
But whilst on holiday we of course still put up some amazing recipes! So here’s what we did in August!
1. Vegan Pesto Pasta with Pan-Roasted Cherry Tomatoes // 2. Vegan Peanut Butter Cups // 3. The Easiest Baba Ganoush // 4. Gluten-Free Vegan Vanilla Cupcakes with Matcha Green Tea Frosting // 5. The Best Damn Strawberry Smoothie // 6. Stuffed Roasted Butternut // 7. Vegan Kahlua and Cream Parfaits // 8. Easy 2-Ingredient Watermelon Smoothie.
COMING UP IN SEPTEMBER
Um…. I just can’t even tell you how excited I am to post September’s recipes! Here’s a sneak peek at two of them!
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
We haven’t watched a whole heap of stuff since for us holidays are more about enjoying some good books! But we DID still manage to binge watch the first season of ‘Underground’. It was soo good. Prepare to get extremely angry watching this though, as it’s about slaves in the American South in 1857 attempting to escape to freedom. Amazing characters, amazing storytelling. Definitely worth watching.
WHAT WE’RE READING
All the John Grishams. Hahaha! And all the Stephen Kings! Well, we read ‘End of Watch’ from Stephen King which is the last novel in the Mr Mercedes Trilogy. It was exceedingly good – as I fully expected it to be! And ‘Rogue Lawyer’ from John Grisham was excellent.
I also read ‘Girl On The Train’ which I thought was brilliant, but Jaye wasn’t as much of a fan. Now I’m into a Dean Koontz that is pretty darn gripping!
So that’s that! Hope your August was great, and you’ve had an all round good summer/winter depending on where you are! Hope you’re looking forward to the rest of the year as much as we are!
