I make this dressing all the time! There’s a local health food restaurant in Santa Barbara I became obsessed with when I went to college there. I often longed for their tahini dressing since. Now this is my most favorite dressing recipe! Depending on what tahini you use, it sometimes has a nuttier taste (soom) and other times has more of that tang. Thanks for sharing this one!

Hi Alison,
I love your recipe, thanks for sharing. I did, however, modify it according to what I had on hand. So here’s what I did. I replaced maple syrup with HONEY, replaced rice vinegar with WINE vinegar, and replaced plain water with ROSE WATER! The outcome was awesome, Alison. I hope you’ll try this version.

Thanks for sharing Lee. 🙂

Charlotte says
Can you do it without the oil?
Alison Andrews says
Hi Charlotte, yes you can. 🙂

I will be making this for lunch salad dressing but I’m trying to do Whole 30….is there something I could use for a little sweetener?
Alison Andrews says
You could replace the maple syrup with any kind of sweetener that you prefer. It does need a little something sweet in there though to balance the flavors out perfectly, so for the sake of tasting good I wouldn’t omit it altogether.
Jacquiline says
Can I use olive oil instead of sesame oil? I have everything on hand but that!
Alison Andrews says
Yes sure! It will have a slightly different flavor but still super good! 🙂
Stephanie Barwick says
Just made and love. I didn’t have any sesame oil and still tasted great to me. Thank you so much for sharing.
