This vegan green smoothie is so simple and delicious that, once you’ve tasted it, you’ll want to return to it again and again as your go-to green smoothie recipe.

It goes down super easy and you’re getting a heap of fruit and veg in.

You’ll never again have any issue getting in your 5-a-day quota for fruits and vegetables. You can knock that out of the park at breakfast.

And if you love a good green smoothie then you’ll also love our kale smoothie so try that one too.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Frozen banana – whenever you have ripe bananas on hand, freeze a few of them for smoothies. Just peel them and cut them into pieces and then freeze them in a freezer safe container so that they’re ready for smoothies whenever you need them. If you don’t have any frozen banana on hand for this smoothie then you can use fresh banana.
    • Mango and pineapple – we used fresh mango and pineapple but frozen will also work just fine. If you’re using frozen mango and pineapple then you may want to use a fresh (not frozen) banana.
    • Baby spinach – is ideal for this smoothie as it is so neutral in flavor, you just don’t taste it at all. However, regular spinach is also fine to use.
    • Almond butter – can be switched for any nut butter you have on hand.
    • Maple syrup – is optional and can be omitted if you prefer.
    • Almond milk – can be switched for any non-dairy milk you have on hand.

    Recipe FAQ

Can you store your green smoothie overnight?

It’s best to drink it right away and not to make it in advance as the ingredients will oxidize. It’s best and most delicious enjoyed immediately.

What is the best time to drink green smoothies?

It’s absolutely ideal to drink a green smoothie for breakfast. They’re also great as a pre or post workout meal as they digest quickly and get those nutrients into your system super fast.

What are the best greens to put in a smoothie?

Spinach, and especially baby spinach work so well in a green smoothie. The flavor is really mild so it blends in beautifully and you don’t taste it at all. Kale can also go great in a smoothie, but the flavor is stronger so you usually need to make more of an effort to mask the taste. Try our kale smoothie, it’s totally delicious and you don’t taste the kale at all.

Can you taste spinach in a green smoothie?

You actually can’t taste the spinach at all. All you can taste is the delicious fruit, making a green smoothie a really good way to get your greens in without even noticing.

Just made this. It’s delicious! I added juice from two oranges, juice from a half of a lemon, and a tsp each of spirulina powder and barley grass powder. I didn’t have mangoes, so I left that out. Excellent drink!5 stars
