Creamy vegan caesar dressing that is ready in 5 minutes! Super simple, cheesy, garlicky and perfect as a dressing or dip.
I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to describe this vegan caesar dressing, because one of the words that comes to mind doesn’t sound super appealing, yet this dressing is totally delicious!
But really, when you want to be accurate about how it tastes, words like ‘cheesy’, ‘garlicky’ and ‘fishy’ come to mind.
I mean okay ‘cheesy’ and ‘garlicky’ are all well and good but I’m thinking ‘fishy’ isn’t the best word to use to describe something vegan! But it’s ‘fishy’ in the way seaweed is fishy, there’s nothing actually fishy in here but the taste is there. In a good way!
Traditionally a caesar dressing uses anchovies and parmesan, and garlic of course to create those flavors. We went with nutritional yeast, some capers and crushed garlic! And it worked like a charm.
This vegan caesar dressing is so delicious, you’ll want to put it on everything, not just your vegan caesar salad (though you definitely want to put it on that).
How To Make Vegan Caesar Dressing
You will find full instructions and measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a summary of the process to go along with the process photos.
Making it is a breeze, it’s just a case of throwing the ingredients into a jug and blending it up with an immersion blender. Or alternatively, throw it all into the jug of your regular blender and blend it up like that.
You do need to blend (as opposed to just whisking everything together) because of those capers. Blending is the easiest way to get those capers nicely mixed in.
Vegan mayonnaise creates the base of this recipe and to that you add dijon mustard, nutritional yeast, crushed garlic, lemon juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, white vinegar and capers!
The result is sensational! It will jazz up any salad to the max and also would make a great dip for chips!
Storing Tips
Keep leftovers stored in the fridge where it will stay good for up to 5 days.
It’s not ideal for freezing.

I made this without the vegan mayo or crushed garlic as I had none.
I used 1 TBSP of lemon juice and 1tsp of apple cider vinegar instead.
It was simply delicious. My daughter declared it’s her favourite salad dressing.
Thank you so much for sharing! Much appreciated.

I made this to drizzle over my pizza and wow what a great decision! Very yummy! I added an extra 1/4 tsp vinegar, 1 more tsp soy sauce, and salt and pepper. Thanks for the super simple recipe!

This is, by far, the BEST Caesar dressing I’ve tried … and it’s so easy to make. Usually I don’t like a generous amount of dressing on my salads but with this one, I grabbed a piece of bread and soaked up any dressing at the bottom of the plate. Totally yummy and a “keeper” in our house! Thanks for sharing it!
Alison Andrews says
So happy to hear that Cyndi! Thanks for the wonderful review.

This has become a family favourite- I make it without capers because it is jusst not an ingredient I ever have on hand, and it tastes amazing! Thank you!

Awesome Nicole! Thanks so much! 🙂

5 stars! Made this tonight. I also used coco aminos-1/4 of the salt vs soy. It’s amazingly creamy and ‘cheesy’ tasting. Nutritional yeast is the star of this recipe! Will definitely make this again and again.

Awesome! Thanks Pat! 🙂

This is super tasty! I used coconut aminos instead of soy and no maple syrup (so many dietary restrictions) and it is still fab! Yum! Thank you!

Awesome! Thanks Jen! 🙂

This Caesar dressing has ended a 20 year search for a vegan version I like. I didn’t eat anchovies back then either so I’m so happy to find the recipe. It is fantastic! I shared it on Instagram so it must be good because I don’t share on there much. I can’t wait to try more recipes on this site. This dressing nailed it!

So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Cindy! 🙂

Absolutely loved the flavor! The non vegans preferred this dressing over their popular store bought brand. Thank you!

Great recipe! I just had for my lunch. Only thing missing which I added to mine was some cracked black pepper. Thanks for this recipe one of the many times I missed going vegan. 🙂

WOW!! Just wow!!
This recipe has sooo much flavour; it’s so creamy and smooth. I am in love with this dressing now!
The last vegan ceasar dressing I made was so heavy on oil; it used chickpeas, which gave a strange texture; when I put it on my salad, it all seperated and was a waste of ingredients and ruined my salad… understandably I was very hesitant to try another. BOY WAS I GLAD I TRIED AGAIN!!
I will be making this all summer long; thank you soooooo much!!

So happy you love the recipe! Thanks so much for the wonderful review! 🙂

I’m not vegan but can’t have cows dairy, so LOVE your recipes. I assume that the Nutrional yeast gives the cheesey flavour so wondered if it would work switching the yeast for pecorino cheese (and would you use 2 tbsp?)
xx
Alison Andrews says
Hi Samantha! So glad you like the recipes! Yes, I think you could make that switch, you could try the same quantity but then taste test and see if you want to add any extra. All the best! 🙂
Taona says
This is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. As a family, we have been trying to eat healthier and this it a TOTAL HIT. Even my 1 yr old loves it!! This will be my new go-to dressing!!
